That Susan Williams

What a surprise to see you here!!!

Whoa! How’d you get HERE???

Have you ever started out intending to go one place, but ended up finding yourself in some place else entirely?

When things turn out well, we call it serendipity!

When things turn out badly, we’re more apt to label it a catastrophe.

Welcome to what I hope will be your own little serendipitous journey.

Because, Toto, we’re not in the Boonies anymore.

Well, technically, I AM still in the Boonies, and yes, I’m still engaged in living my Wild Life in the Woods (the name of the blog I’ve been writing on Blogspot since 2009). But what I found while using that as a blog title, was that no one knew exactly what my blog was about, just by hearing its name. It’s entirely possible that some folks ended up there looking for a hunting license. Or for a redneck swinger’s club.

I have finally come to terms with the fact that I am more than just a story teller. I’m a writer. And a writer ought to have the fortitude to be known by her name.

But…Susan Williams?

There are a bazillion Susan Williams in this world. And I should know. I fight the good fight every time I go to the doctor’s office, and discover that I am about #40 of the umpteen Susan Williams in my insurance system.

How to distinguish myself?

Which Susan Williams am I?

Here’s how I hope you’ll think of me: as a friend who can be counted on for a story well told, as a source for approachable and absolutely delicious recipes, or as someone who might offer you a word of hope, when your spirit need a little encouragement.

I want to be that Susan Williams.

Let me tell you about a couple of the features of this new home for my writing that I’m super excited about. The first one is the large search bar along the top. This is the best search tool I’ve ever seen on a blog before. So, if you have an ingredient that you want to use in a recipe, you can type in (for example) eggplant, and links to any posts I’ve written on eggplant will drop down. If you think you remember that I wrote a post on the Emmys, or San Francisco, or on Deacon D. Dawg, you can type in that term, and my posts on that topic will  drop down. It’s very cool!

Also, please note my seasonal recipe index in the right margin. I’ve tagged all my recipes by season, because I believe so strongly in making great use of the bounty that’s in season, so if it’s the dead of summer, and you’re planning a party for the fall, you can click on the recipes I’ve tagged for that season, and find some wonderful ideas waiting for you there.

Please take note of the pages listed along the top.

There’s an About page, if you’d like to know a little bit more about me, personally.

If you click on the Food Page, you’ll find all my recipes listed there. Or you can access any specific category that you might be interested in via the cool drop down menu.

If you click on the Faith page, you’ll see a listing of all my devotional posts, organized by books in the Bible.

And all my other posts you’ll find gathered together the Fun page, which is a little bit like a literary Pupu Platter. Some posts are nuts, some are sweet, and some have been soaking too long in the saki. If you like a good cry, I have a few posts I’ve entitled 4 Hankie posts. I like to think of them as verbal Neti pots. You have been warned.

There’s also a Contact page that contains my email address, so if you’d like to talk with me about an idea for a sponsored post, I’m open to hearing your ideas.

I’ve started a Facebook page, where my posts will come up, and I’d really appreciate it if you’d please click on this link, and give my page a “like”.

Also, my posts can show up in your mailbox, if you’d prefer to get word about my latest posts that way. I have some exciting goodies in mind for folks who subscribe to me via email, so if you want to be first in line for those, by all means, please, sign up to receive notifications via email. Just enter your name and email address in the gadget near the top of my right margin that says, “Subscribe to my Newsletter”.

Big doings going on, kids! So glad you’re along for the ride!!!

I like recipes, so I'll be checking out that tab for certain. And my last name is Williams, so I completely understand. My recent post What Food is Healthy? And a Whole Grain, Wholly Amazing Bob’s Red Mill Giveaway!

Love your new look, the way you've organized your recipes, and your pretty photos. Was it a lot of work? It really does feel like we're sitting in your kitchen enjoying a delicious cup of BB's coffee and... hey, is that strawberry pie?

You know my perennial problem finding your comment button. It shows up tiny and grey on my old Mac running Safari, but I found it! Maybe that's an issue unique to my system; after all, how many of your readers are likely to be on old Macbooks running Safari? :)
