This morning, as my eyes opened, I stretched, and did a little personal physical inventory. I had a bit of a headache, but not too terrible. I continued stretching. “What day is it?” It’s Friday. That’s why my dear husband, The Big Bison, isn’t in the bed, because every Friday morning he gets up and drives into town, in order to be on his knees praying with a bunch of wonderful men on Friday at 5:00 A.M. And then I thought, “Oh, yes, it is Friday, and I get to go to my Fabulous Friday Friends group and…”

And then, it hit me like a ton of bricks.

At this time, around 2000 years ago, while folks like you and I quietly slumbered through the night, God’s one and only Son was being drug around the town of Jerusalem, through a series of hastily organized hearings and trials, none of them conducted legally. While I was sleeping, early in the morning, He was being beaten, and sentenced to death. And on this day, almost 2000 years ago, they were slamming a “crown” of thorns onto His head, and nailing His hands and feet to a cross. But what they didn’t know, what at that time they couldn’t have understood, was that God was going to use their execution of this innocent man to bring many sons to glory.

They thought they were disposing of their “problem”, and in truth, were they ever! Because Jesus chose to submit to His Father’s plan of redemption, they were doing away with the sin problem of the entire world.

You see, on this particular Friday, I’m meeting with my Fabulous Friday Friends to read scripture, have communion, and remember!

I hope you enjoy the song, “Remembrance”, by Matt Redman, but most of all, I hope you’ll take a moment to remember, too.
